A young boy is sucked into the dangerous and exciting world of dragon battles during the heyday of the Great Depression. The main character Enrico's father has found a lucrative, if mysterious, new position, and the family's straights are no longer dire. Unfortunately, a tragic accident leaves the family without a breadwinner, and Enrico is forced to grow up too fast. Enrico's father was killed by a wild dragon and the reader learns what connection Enrico has to the secretive dragon battles that form the backbone of many criminal empires.
