The first series of The Authority was a spin-off/continuation of the series StormWatch. It was published for 29 issues starting in 1999.

A second series published starting in 2003 lasted for 15 issues (#0-14).

The twelve-issue limited series The Authority: Revolution followed in 2004.

The current series began in 2006 as part of the WorldStorm reboot of the WildStorm universe.
